The Geekulcha Student Society (GKSS) is aimed at getting students into Tech and Innovation Leadership for students on campus in generating an understanding of the digital environment, becoming inspired, and enabling life-changing innovation.

The Geekulcha Student Society (GKSS) was founded in 2015 as a collaboration between Geekulcha and the Northern Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism. Today it has chapters 21 campuses, in seven provinces.
It was to help build and shape the leadership capacity across campuses and encourage tomorrow’s captains of industry to find their place in tech. The GKSS leadership deserves to be honoured for the pivotal role it has played in numerous hackathons hosted by Geekulcha over the past year.

Geekulcha will host its Geekulcha Student Society (GKSS) Awards at the opening of the Geekulcha Annual Hackathon 2020.
“We created the GKSS programme to help build and shape the leadership capacity across campuses and encourage tomorrow’s captains of industry to find their place in tech,” says Tiyani Nghonyama, Geekulcha COO. “The GKSS leadership deserves to be honoured for the pivotal role it has played in numerous hackathons hosted by Geekulcha over the past year.”

Recognizing a leader who has created an enabling environment for students to access opportunities and represented the institution at various platforms.
Best Industry/Gov Mentor
Government or Industry leader who has been on the ground to help students develop their skills in guided GKSS programmes/activities.
Best Female GKSS Leader
In the recognition and need to build the balance, this award will be given to a female leader who has served as an inspiration to other students in saying “ We are doing it ourselves."
Best Support Lecturer
Lecturer or a member of the department who has been supporting and helping enable access for the GKSS chapters.
Best Industry partner
Industry organization that has supported GKSS chapters with guidance and/or resources to assist in the activities.
Best Project/Startup Created
Project that GKSS leaders were involved in developing at a Hackathon platform.
Best GKSS Chapter of 2019
Award given to a GKSS Chapter that has made great strides to uplift and empower students through social impact and access to opportunities.
